With offices in Memphis, Tennessee and northeast, Mississippi, Domes International, Inc. (Domes) is an American company, manufacturing and selling dome-shaped fiberglass (FRP) houses and other formed fiberglass products using designs and techniques developed by one of the company's founders over a twenty seven year period in Mantachie, Mississippi, USA. The present investors combined operations with the founder, Joel Nichols, in 1997 in Domes' original manufacturing facility of almost 100,000 square feet in Golden, Mississippi. Domes subsequently sold its original manufacturing facility and moved to two separate operations:

Domes International, Inc. has extensive knowledge of manufacturing and overseas markets. Combined with Domes technical expertise, design, and provisioning of vital master molds, plugs, custom equipment, etc., this makes for a formidable international presence in world markets, and will allow rapid expansion in the most efficient manner.

During the first two years of business, Domes perfected its manufacturing know-how and identified target markets. Most sales during this period came through dome shaped modular houses, manufacture of steps for mobile homes, and assorted FRP products. Within the last several years, however, Domes has participated in ongoing government contracts with Boeing Aerospace, Lockheed, Raytheon, COLSA, KRS and others to supply housing for missile defense personnel on Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. Negotiations are under way for a total of 256 housing units to be shipped and installed to replace deteriorating mobile homes currently being used for personnel housing on Kwajalein, for a total contract value of nearly $45 million. In addition, discussions are under way with the US Army Missile Defense Command to provide similar housing on the island for military personnel, with similar dollar amounts involved.

The Kwajalein project illustrates the expanding potential of these modular fiberglass structures for governments and private industry in hostile physical environments (maritime locations, rough terrain, mountains) and for specialized needs (long term housing of construction workers on job sites, military outposts, low cost shelter for displaced persons).

Several key features of the molded modular fiberglass structure make it uniquely suited for such applications, including:

Although a few companies exist which produce dome shaped structures using materials such as concrete, gunite, molded plastic, and sheet metal, none of them has all the features listed above. A handful of companies manufacture molded fiberglass structures, but none has developed a system comparable to that of Domes, which offers interlocking double fiberglass panels containing thermal barrier inlays (polyurethane foam insulation and optional foil sandwiched between fiberglass layers) and multiple floor plans using modular components. As the Boeing and U.S Army contracts make clear, a diligent search of competitive suppliers in the marketplace yields no other company that can offer the complete package of quality products and features of Domes.

Domes obtained a $1.2 million loan from the Overseas Private Investment Corporation for the establishment of a small factory in Ahmedabad, India, - Domes International (India) LTD, which opened in December, 2003. Currently, we have supplied Residential Dwellings, Religious Temples, Construction Site Offices, Office Buildings, Hospital Conference Halls, Security Guard Houses, and are working with the Indian government to supply school houses, military barracks, housing, etc. Many other projects are in final stages for industrial, commercial, recreational, military and government projects. Expansion to other countries with Domes' owned and/or managed factories will permit the existing management to keep the Domes workforce intact for domestic sales to institutional and commercial customers domestically, and to some U.S. Government customers requiring domestic manufacturing, initially in the same location where the plant operation is currently located. Master molds, plugs, and other proprietary equipment as necessary will be manufactured in the U.S. for shipment to the foreign facilities. However, some of the U.S. military contracts on Kwajalein and elsewhere worldwide can be produced in the Indian facility.

Also, pending contracts from Boeing Aerospace and Raytheon, both subcontractors to the U.S. Army’s Missile Defense Command, can be simultaneously produced in the Indian factory in case of capacity restraints in the current U.S. facility. Higher profit margins, because of lower labor costs, etc., can be achieved on a mass scale by exporting the bulk of these contracted products from India, Nigeria, and subsequent third world locations. In addition, the crying need for shelter for disaster relief, the tremendous opportunities in grain storage, fuel storage, cistern and septic tank manufacture, jail facilities, cold storage facilities, military barracks, school buildings, industrial factory and warehouse buildings, large dormitory settings for workers in remote locations, greenhouses, etc. appear to be very profitable ventures for our Domes USA and our subsequent facilities.

Domes International, Inc. USA intends to position itself to develop profit centers in three areas:

  1. optimize interest generated by the Boeing contract in order to obtain additional projects with Raytheon Corporation on Kwajalein ($18 million for 100 housing units), a Boeing project for housing military personnel in Alaska ($10 million plus) which Domes is currently quoting at Boeing's request, and opportunities under discussion with the Departments of Defense and Interior; amounting to in excess of US$45 million. Contracts with KSR on Kwajalein are ongoing. A $500,000 jail contract was recently received and is being installed in Boaz, Alabama.
  2. pursue third world sales of housing for refugees, disaster relief victims and the poor, military/ industrial/ institutional applications, schoolrooms in Niger, and sales in other countries;
  3. sale of plants under discussion in Afghanistan, Turkey, Africa, the Dominican Republic, Niger, Nigeria, Ghana, and other countries as part of turn key packages to be operated pursuant to factory expansion by Domes, primarily for low cost production of houses.
