World Discoveries, Inc. is a Tennessee USA company which manufactures and sells dome
shaped composite (FRP) houses and other formed composite products using designs and
techniques developed by one of its founders over a thirty year period in Mantachie, Mississippi.
Attention: Disaster Relief Organizations
World Discoveries, Inc.' Mississippi U.S.A. Manufacturing Plant Makes Disaster Relief
Shelters from Composite Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic.
Features: Quick on-site construction and
assembly.
Low Cost Effective, Energy Efficient -
(Chickasaw County, MS Jail built a Dome facility
- - They compared their average electricity cost against their old conventional facility ;
THE FOUR MONTH AVERAGE COST PER SQUARE FOOT WAS $.48 FOR THE DOME FACILITY
-
APRIL, 2004 EXECUTIVE ENGINEER K.S. SHAH, ROAD & BUILDINGS DIVISION, PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, STATE GOVERNMENT OF GUJARAT, INDIA STATED: THE AVERAGE ANNUAL COST OF MAINTENANCE FOR EXISTING CONVENTIONAL BUILDINGS IN GUJARAT IS 5% PER ANNUM.
THERE IS NO MAINTENANCE REQUIRED FOR A DOME STRUCTURE OTHER THAN OCCASIONAL WASHING.
CONSEQUENTLY, ON MAINTENANCE SAVINGS ALONE, YOUR SAVINGS OVER A 5-YEAR PERIOD WILL BE 25% , AND OVER A 20-YEAR PERIOD WILL BE 100%.
THE SHAPE OF THE DOME STRUCTURE WITH ITS LOW SURFACE AREA TO VOLUME RATION AUTOMATICALLY REDUCES BY 30% THE AMOUNT OF CUBIC METERS NECESSARY TO BE HEATED OR COOLED. THE POLYURETHANE FOAM USED IN THE DOME HAS THE HIGHEST INSULATIVE VALUE IN USE IN BUILDING CONSTRUCTION TODAY. BECAUSE OF THE FOAMS PLACEMENT WITHIN THE WALLS, THE EXTREME INSULATING PROPERTIES OF THE DOME (R-28+ RATING BY U.S. LABORATORY) MAKES IT INCREDIBLY ENERGY EFFICIENT - 50% - 70% SAVINGS OVER CONVENTIONAL STRUCTURES AS TESTED IN U.S.A.
NO OTHER STRUCTURE ON THE MARKET TODAY CAN MAKE THAT CLAIM.
VS $1.80 PER SQUARE FOOT FOR THEIR OLD CONVENTIONAL JAIL FACILITY.)
Maintenance free; No painting; No mildew; No rot; No rust; No corrosion; No
deterioration; No weathering; No termites; No shingles; No siding; No load-bearing
walls; Easy repair if ever damaged ; No Flame, flood & earthquake resistant ;
Fire retardant added; Reconfigurable interiors; Relocatable.
Safety
No snow or debris pile-up on roof due to dome shape
Aero-dynamic shape makes DOME buildings virtually wind proof.
High structural load capacity Shelters can be shipped within weeks,
and can be assembled on site in less than a day's time.Interior walls, finishing
takes longer. Can be provided in kit form with instructions for do-it-yourself
assembly. Can use permanent concrete or plinth foundations, or temporary

DOME HOUSE ON NAVARRE BEACH, FLORIDA
DIRECT HIT FROM HURRICANE OPAL 1995
WITHSTOOD 144 MPH WINDS, 18 FOOT
TIDAL WAVE STORM SURGE NO DAMAGE!
FEMA TESTING
The Wind Science and Engineering Division of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas
successfully tested our composite
dome panels to hurricane shelter standards in
May, 2006.
Testing was consistent with the impact guidelines
of the Florida Building Code, ASTM 1886E/1996E and FEMA 320 and FEMA 361.
We also had a specially built panel successfully pass the tornado shelter standard.
This test consists of 3 separate shots of a 15 lb. 2 x 4, fired at a speed of 100 MPH.
The Dome structures have been exposed to three hurricanes in Florida and numerous
tornados. In all cases the damage was minimal and only minor inconvenience
to the home owner. Wind testing was done at the INEEL
wind storm test facility. The structural test was also conducted by Dr.
Avent of Mississippi State University. Fire Retardant coating is applied to
all WDI dome interior structures. This coating gives the structure a
Class A Rating.
Integral fire barrier incorporated in
each panel
Dome House in Ahmedabad, India
survived Bhuj earthquake in 2001. Many surrounding houses were
damaged.
Simply washing the shell with bleach and water is all the maintenance
that is required for normal installations.
Easy composite repair should a panel ever become damaged.
Composite panels are hurricane shelter approved.
Composite homes have been standing for 30 years.

Acosta Engineering, of El Paso, Texas conducted a structural analysis of a Composite
Building System Dome house in May, 2009. The International Building
Code (IBC) requirements were considered in the analysis. The Composite Fiber Glass Dome system meets the requirements
of the International Building Code (IBC).
