Domes International's proven ability to withstand nature's fury

There are twenty weekend cabins located along a drainage branch of Pickwick Lake in Iuka, Mississippi. There is also one Dome home on that same branch. A flash flood emptied two feet of water into those weekend cabins. Every cabin was damaged. The Dome home received no damage and there was only a small amount of water around the front door.

Near New Albany, Mississippi, a tornado struck a rural area at 3:00 pm on a Saturday afternoon. The storm followed a county road for about two miles. Unfortunately, it destroyed all houses and out buildings along both sides of the road. The storm changed course to the Northeast, directly toward the location of a Dome home. Two houses located within 100 yards of the Dome sustained damage. The only damage the Dome received was a rear storm window broken by flying debris.

There is a Dome home located at Navarre Beach, on Santa Rosa Island in the city limits of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, that has been through three hurricanes. In October, 1995, Hurricane Opal struck the Gulf of Mexico with sustained winds of 144 miles per hour. There was an 18 foot tidal surge that damaged or destroyed many standing buildings for a six mile distance along the beach. The only building that was not damaged was the Dome house.
In Senatobia, Mississippi, a tornado struck a community and damaged trees and a few buildings. One metal building was blown from its foundation and was torn apart while airborne. About 80% of this building landed on a Dome home. The Dome received no damage.
